So after thinking about doing this, thinking some more, and overthinking… I decided, why not? There are a lot of people who inspire me, why couldn’t I be one of them and inspire myself and maybe others along the way. I asked myself some questions as to why I would do this: what can I contribute, how often will I post, what would I post? The answer I’ve come up with is that I don’t know, let’s see where this takes us. Sometimes not having the answers makes it hard to start, and that’s ok to admit. I’m not holding myself out as a professional blogger, just an everyday gal who wants to get stuff out of her head every once in a while.
So why France?
I haven’t always been someone in love with France, Eiffel Tower adorning every free space I have. I thought of French culture as being elusive and unobtainable. I’m Polish from my mother and grew up with family, food, and speaking some Polish. France wasn’t really on my radar, it was a place I’d visit, at some point, in my life. So it feels very recent that I fell in love with the place and it’s culture, within the past 10 years or so.
When 10 step beauty routines were becoming popular I though to myself that there had to be an easier way, something affordable and consistent that I could keep up with. I found articles comparing skin care regimens and how simple the French seemed to keep it. A few products that worked, and voila, you were caring for yourself and didn’t need a lot of time to do it. Eventually this led me to learning about citypharma, a French pharmacy that sold all the skincare you could ever possibly need and then some, I was in love. I had to get there! The rest is history as they say.. I’ve only dabbled in learning French, I sound very Californian and I hate it. I’ve been to France only once so far and will be back very soon. And I plan on going much more with hopes to eventually end up there permanently, hence the tile of this blog… The Long Road to France.
